Cross-Body Unilateral Extensions

To perform cross-body unilateral extensions, start by holding a dumbbell in one hand a couple of inches above your jaw. Your elbow should be pointed out to the side. You can grab the bench with your non-working hand for support. Extend your arm to raise the dumbbell away from your face.

Raise the dumbbell up and away from your body until your triceps are fully extended. Return to the starting position very slowly and in a controlled manner.

Tips

* As with any triceps exercise that involves lowering a weight above your face, it is imperative that you begin with light weights in order to learn how to do the movement correctly. Increase the poundage only when you feel completely comfortable with the exercise.
* This exercise mainly works the long head of the triceps.
