Diamond Pushups

Diamond pushups are a difficult yet effective exercise. Begin in a standard pushup position, with your arms supporting your body above the ground and your feet close together. Move your hands together until your fingers and thumbs are touching each other, forming a diamond or triangle shape on the ground. With your hands so close together like this, the triceps will be worked intensely.

Lower yourself until you are a few inches off the ground, then push back up to the starting position.

Tips

* The narrow position of the hands can make this exercise hard on the wrists, especially if you perform many sets at a time. To avoid wrist pain, you should try doing these pushups on your fists or on pushup stands. As long as your fists or the pushup stands are positioned close together, you will get the same benefits from this exercise.
* The closer you keep your feet together, the more difficult it will become to maintain balance and the more your abdominal core will be engaged.
