Dumbbell Skull Crushers

Dumbbell skull crushers are performed in the same fashion as standard skull crushers except dumbbells are used instead of a barbell or E-Z bar. Start with your arms extended above your chest, then slowly lower the dumbbells until they are just above your forehead. Make sure your arms stay close to your sides as you lower and raise the weights.

When the dumbbells are a few inches above your forehead, extend your arms and raise the weights back up to the top.

Tips

* Start with lighter weights when just beginning this exercise until you are comfortable with the movement. By starting out too heavy, you run the risk of dropping the weights on your head or damaging your elbows.
* This exercise works all three heads of the triceps fairly equally, with a bit more emphasis on the medial and lateral heads.
