Exercise Ball Pushups

To perform exercise ball pushups, position yourself so that your feet are resting on top of the ball and your hands are supporting your body above the ground. Bend your elbows to lower your chest towards the floor while keeping your back straight.

Lower yourself until your chest is just a few inches above the floor, then extend your arms to push yourself back up to the starting position.

Tips

* With the feet elevated on an exercise ball, the effort of this movement is focused in the upper chest. The anterior deltoid, triceps, and serratus anterior are all used to some degree as while.
* It is important to contact your abdominal core as you execute this movement in order to prevent your lower back from arching. The act of balancing the weight of your lower body on the exercise ball also engages the core intensely.
