Pec Deck

The pec deck allows you to really isolate your chest. This movement can be especially useful for beginners since you don't have to worry too much about your form or positioning. Bend at the elbows and position your arms so that they are resting against the support pads while you grip the handles. Squeeze your arms together and focus on feeling the effort of the movement in your pecs.

Hold a short isometric contraction at the end of the movement to emphasize the work of your chest, then return to the starting position under control.

Most machines also offer the option of performing this exercise one side at a time, an option that is not available for most other chest exercises. Training each side individually allows you to ensure that both the left and right sides of your chest are receiving equal amounts of work. This will prevent your stronger side from always compensating for the weaker one and will also prevent asymmetry in your chest development.
Tips
* This exercise develops the pectoralis major, mainly at the area of the sternal notch. The biceps, specifically the short head, also receive some of the effort of the movement.
