Towel Chinups

Towel chinups are an extremely challenging exercise. Start by draping two small towels over the bar. Then, grab these towels to hang your body from the bar. Pulling with your arms, raise yourself up as high as possible while keeping the rest of your body still.

Pull your chin up to about the level of your hands, seeing how it is virtually impossible to raise your chin to the bar during this variation. Return to the starting position and repeat the movement.

Tips

* This exercise strengthens the latissimus dorsi, teres major, lower part of the trapezius, as well as the biceps and forearm muscles. It is one of the best movements for building grip strength, however at the same time, a considerable amount of initial strength is required to even be able to perform the movement at all. Use hammer curls to build strength in the forearms and wrists first.
