Unilateral Overhead Dumbbell Extensions

Unilateral overhead dumbbell extensions are performed by holding a dumbbell in one hand behind your head. Keep your elbow and arm pointed out to your side. You can grab your leg, a bench, or any other sturdy object nearby with your non-working arm for support and balance. Raise the dumbbell above your head as you extend your working arm.

Once you have raised your arm above your head, lower the weight back down to the starting position.
Tips
* This is a good exercise for hitting the long head of the triceps. The ability to work each arm individually also ensures that you are balancing the work performed by both of your arms. * Be careful not to lower the weight too far on the negative portion of this exercise. Your unique shoulder structure and flexibility will dictate how low you are able drop the weight behind your head. * This movement can also be performed in a seated position for better stability.
